Our first full day in Bodrum started
off nice and slow as we slept in! Gunay, the housekeeper made us a breakfast of fried egg,
toast, jam, tomatoes, olives, cheese, juice and tea, which we ate out on the patio. We did some Bible reading
and then we worked out in the yard by the pool. I kept hoping the sun would
stay out so that I could hop in the pool. But more and more clouds came. We
went for a little run and then ended up at the park near the house where they
have some outside workout equipment for the locals to enjoy! But we had some
fun, made a funny video and then went back to the house where we met Guler who
was just about to go to town to meet friends. I hopped in the (Freezing) shower
and in a few minutes we were on our way with her. We were going to do our own
thing while she met with friends, but I realized in my rush I forgot our money,
so she invited us to lunch, saying even if we did have our money, we wouldn’t
be allowed to pay, since we are her guests! She is spoiling us for sure! We ate
right by the water with some of her friends, who thankfully spoke English. The
one gentleman was very comical and talkative. When we asked him what he did for work he told he is a “problem solver”- He is
paid to go to places and solve peoples problems, either private or corporate.
He is like a mediator- sounds like an “interesting” job? Anyways, after lunch
(which ended at 4:30pm) we went back to the house and just relaxed and hung out
around the house. Two of the ladies from lunch came for tea and sweets, so I sat
and talked (and listened when they talked Turkish). Guler wasn’t feeling well
so she went to bed early, around 7pm, and again we didn’t eat till 9pm. We
enjoyed the fire again before heading off to bed. We are sad that our time in Turkey is coming to an end, we are thoroughly enjoying it, and having a really nice time!
