Nese
took us in her vehicle for a tour of the local area. She brought along one of her local lady helpers who cleans
and cooks occasionally at the guesthouse.
We were also accompanied by a YWAMer from Kazakhstan.
We
saw the Aegean (only about 10 min drive from Selcuk). There’s quite a long stretch of beach. We saw Kusadasi, a nearby seaside
resort town that seemed heavily commercialized and not all that appealing. However, we did get to take a stroll
past fishing boats along this little walkway out to a small island in the bay
with a charming little castle perched on top – certainly the highlight of
Kusadasi if you ask me. We walked
around a bit. The water in the
harbor was SO blue and crystal clear.
Beautiful! … But we were glad to be back in Selcuk
when the tour was over.
Visited
our children’s worker Canadian friend in the evening. Went over to her place for cookies, tea, fruit, and
baklava. Had a good chat, watched
‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s,’ sipped our special ‘Canadian’ Stash peppermint tea,
and enjoyed a restful evening. It
was a regular old-fashioned, typical Canadian-style tea party/casual get
together. Good times. We prayed together before we left and
went straight home to bed.
